Companies invited to De La Rue jobs fair

Gateshead Council is assisting Team Valley's De La Rue with its recently announced redundancy process.  As part of this the council will be helping to facilitate a mini-jobs fair for those employees affected week commencing 12 August.

The council would like to invite companies across the North East who are either currently recruiting or thinking of doing so. This is the ideal opportunity to speak to high quality potential employees, face to face and at no cost.

Cllr Malcolm Brain, Cabinet Member for the Economy explains: "Gateshead Council is continually working to support business in the area and residents and this is demonstrated in our delivery of redundancy assistance at this difficult time for both De La Rue and its loyal workforce.  The planned event for those affected will enable qualified and experienced workers to showcase what they have to offer to prospective employers and I would encourage companies who feel they can assist or are looking for good quality employees to engage with the Council."

"The types of roles identified as being at risk of redundancy are: Printer, Quality Control Auditor, Maintenance Engineer, Finishing Operator, Quality Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, Security Auditor, Administrator, Production Planner, Buyer, CI Facilitator, Lab Technician, Environmental Officer and Finishing Team Member."

De La Rue, the world's largest commercial banknote printer is proposing to shut one of the print lines in Gateshead. The proposal will result in around 158 jobs being at risk of redundancy.

If you would like to attend, have your vacancies shared or would like further information please email business@gateshead.gov.uk
