New Gateshead start-up nailing it
Dunston luxury nail business, House of Chi, is making its mark on the beauty industry after support from our new start-up support programme, 'Enterprise Support in the North East 2'.
Owner and designer Kerry Lister-Pattinson started up the business from home and the press on nails have been getting the attention of local drag sensation Miss Rory and the cast of Ru Paul's Drag Race UK.
A former beautician, Kerry could no longer work in a salon due to a disability. Determined to be her own boss, make extra money and work hours that suited her and her disability she started House of Chi from home. Looking for extra support she contacted Lauren at Gateshead Council's Business Gateshead team.
Kerry said: "The support I've had from Business Gateshead and the local community, especially Miss Rory has been fantastic and I'm excited for the future. I would encourage anyone who has an idea or wants to be their own boss to get in touch with the team."
Gateshead residents can access free and confidential business start-up support which includes 12 hours of one to one contact, help finding finance and premises.
