Gateshead's Backyard Bikeshop wins national award

At the prestigious National BikeBiz Awards held at the NEC Cycle Show in Birmingham (Thursday 12 September 2019), Backyard Bikeshop was awarded the coveted title of 'Best Independent Bike Dealer'.

The Backyard Bikeshop resides on Hillgate Quays in Gateshead and forms part of By The River Brew Co. container community that opened in June last year.

The shop offers high-end custom build road bikes as well as boasting a full-service workshop.

Nic Veiri who accepted the award said: "To win this award after such a relatively short time in operation is incredible and a testament to our team's ethos here at Backyard Bikeshop. For us it is a pleasure to be of service to the North East's Cycling community as we live, breath and dream bikes."

As well as operating as a bike shop the premises also operates as the perfect place for brunch on the banks of the Tyne and even morphs into a covert cocktail bar at weekends.
