Help your staff commute safely and healthily

Businesses in Gateshead could receive a grant of up to £3,000 to help improve cycle commuting at the workplace.

The Big Bike Revival for Business project, delivered by Cycling UK, enables businesses to support more staff to cycle to work. Through a tailored support package, employees can be helped to commute by bike, enabling them to travel safely and socially distanced, improving their health and helping their productivity.

The grant is tailored to your business needs, and includes; bike maintenance session by qualified mechanics, free webinars and digital events, staff bike ride led by a qualified cycle leader and Cycling UK affiliate insurance - 12 months organisers liability insurance worth £10 million plus expert help and support.

As well as supporting staff to travel safely during the pandemic there are many benefits to businesses to have a workforce that cycles more. Employees who cycle take regularly take on average 1.3 fewer sick days than those who don't and 73% of employees who cycle felt it made them more productive at work. In addition, cycle parking is cheaper to maintain and install than car parking spaces.
