New business provides Gateshead a spooky alternative to the regular bath time treat
'Trick or treat, smells so sweet, it's for your bath so please don't eat.'
Offering a collection of specially-made gift boxes and seasonally-themed products, including handmade bath bombs, soaps, and bubble bath bars, The Creepy Peach delivers fresh, creepy and colourful items to satisfy your spooky side all year - not just for Halloween!
Dionne Candice Hodgson, the founder and owner of The Creepy Peach, views her bath and body cosmetics business as one built on a labour of love, combining the world's most environmentally friendly and sustainable plants with her obsession of everything horror and Halloween.
My love for beautiful and spooky bath art blossomed when I realised I could remake my favourite fragrances into bath bombs and other bathing products that didn't stain my bath, dry out my skin, or leave an awful residue on my hair. I had full control over everything, ensuring it was as natural and as kind for my skin and the environment as possible.
With the help of the New Enterprise Allowance and the Business Gateshead team, Dionne was able to take her business to the next level. She explained, "My bath bomb journey started after being diagnosed as chronically ill and having to give up full time work as an art teacher to focus on my health. I found myself learning another craft to keep myself busy and improve my mental health whilst waiting for treatment.
"After 2 years experimenting with bath and body cosmetics, and a significant improvement in my health, I started spending more time developing ideas and creating products for a potential market. I also built a social media following and created a brand people would immediately recognise and remember. Not knowing how to get my business started, I reached out sharing my business ideas and was forwarded to the New Enterprise Allowance scheme.
"It was because of all the support, advice and guidance received from the New Enterprise Allowance team and dedicated business adviser that I was able to make the confident decision to swap the art classroom for an art workshop, so I could continue to focus on my health whilst starting a new career and working independently to build a business based on my love for the creepy crafts."
