In the lead up to Small Business Saturday, we're inviting residents to nominate their favourite Gateshead small business.
Small Business Saturday is a nationwide campaign that recognises the incredible contribution of small businesses to our economy, our communities, and our daily lives.
Since its launch in the UK in 2013, Small Business Saturday has grown into one of the country's most successful grassroots movements, inspiring people to support small, independent businesses not just on one day, but all year round. These businesses are the backbone of the UK economy - they drive innovation, create local jobs, provide essential services, and bring life and character to our high streets and neighbourhoods.
Whether it's a hidden gem you've just discovered, a family favourite, or a business that has gone above and beyond for the community, a nomination could help put them in the spotlight. By nominating, residents can help elevate local businesses, giving them well-earned recognition and helping them attract new customers. Each nomination is a public thank you for their hard work, dedication and the role they play in shaping our local economy.

Independent Retail - Celebrating the shops and retailers that bring character, choice, and quality to Gateshead's high streets.
Above and Beyond - Recognising individuals or teams who consistently go the extra mile for their customers, colleagues, or community.
Rising Star - Highlighting emerging businesses or entrepreneurs making a big impact early in their journey.
Eco Champion - Honouring businesses leading the way in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Eating Out - Celebrating the cafés, restaurants, and eateries that make Gateshead's food scene so special.
